Go Go Gadget?

It is amazing to me how the more technology we have, the busier we seem to be. One would think that all the advancement in gadgetry would allow us to do things faster and have more time to relax and enjoy life. We can learn all we want to, but if we don’t accept and apply truth in our lives, things will not get easier, they will get more difficult. Paul told Timothy that in the last days, people will turn to ways that focus on self, “Ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth.” Paul said knowledge alone will get you nowhere. Without truth your faith will be reprobate, meaning it will not stand the test. The Bible says that knowledge alone puffs us up. The knowledge God wants us to have is not head knowledge, but experiential knowledge. Knowing God because you have experienced Him will lead to transformation. What we have in our world is head knowledge which leads to pride. Have you ever tried to tell your child something and they respond, “I know, I know?” They know in their head, but they are not applying what they know. Often they are too proud to admit they are screwing up. When God created the world, He said everything that He created was good for us and then instituted a Sabbath rest for us to enjoy His creation. All we had to do was trust and apply what He said. When Adam and Eve didn’t listen, they may have received more “knowledge” from the tree they were supposed to avoid, but things got more difficult. When we don’t trust in His provision, we walk away from the Sabbath rest He intended for us and we get into pride. And pride leads us to destruction. When our knowledge and our gadgets become our god, we become more self dependent and we are destined for destruction. Seek the Lord with all your heart, experience Him and you will know the truth. Technology can become a tether, knowing the truth will make you free.
