Plug Into The Charger

Several things recently have called my attention to the importance of spending time with God. The word “prayer” seems to be something that reminds many of obligation, work, or duty. Unfortunately prayer is not often something we pursue unless desperation is involved. I like to think of prayer as a time of relationship, restoration and refreshing. Jesus had at the forefront of His mission a desire for us to be endued with power from on high. He said it was expedient that we have the ability to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Prayer is much more than reciting a list of petitions. It is a time for us to meet with our Father to draw from His strength, seek His wisdom, be encouraged by His words, and to be reminded of His love. It is designed to provide us with security, confidence, passion, vision, joy and peace. These are things we can all use every day. Many people wouldn’t think of starting their day without their coffee routine. They will go to great lengths either making it, finding Starbucks, or getting just the right mixture of taste and temperature. Yet somehow being filled with heavenly power seems not worth the effort. What’s wrong with us? We know prayer is the answer in time of need, why can’t we seek God before we reach a sense of panic? Because fear is more of a motivator in our lives than faith. We fear man more than God, we fear lack more than sin, and we fear death more than judgment. Over 100 times God had to tell His people “fear not, I am with you.” Prayer assures us of this. Recharge your spiritual battery today, spend time with God.
