When I read through the wonderful beginnings of the church in the book of Acts, I see something that I long to see in the church today. What I see in the early church is a passion that was the product of transformed lives. I see an authentic move of God that changed cities, nations and the world. As they got on their face and prayed relentlessly, God showed up in an amazing way. When Peter stood up and explained what happened, three thousand people were compelled to accept Christ. From there the disciples and their new converts were so excited about what God had done in their lives that they told everyone they could. Daily people were being added to the church. Daily! We have a tough time attending weekly. What was the difference? It certainly wasn’t easier back then. They often risked their lives to tell people about a God that many of them had never heard of. With the advancement in technology today, hearing and preaching the gospel has never been easier. The difference is one thing, enthusiasm. Look it up, the word enthusiasm literally means “God inside.” When they prayed, God filled them so full that they could not contain the excitement. They sought this experience daily. Their lives became so transformed that it was all they could talk about. The more they were filled, the more hungry they became. Let’s get on our faces like they did and seek the rushing, mighty wind to fill all our house. We will not be able to change the world until we first are transformed through the indwelling presence of God and His power.
